Prerequisites: Java Users

Oracle Instance Configuration Memory Settings

Configure the memory settings to the following recommended minimum values:

• Shared Pool: 300 MB
• Buffer Cache: 436 MB
• Large Pool: 4 MB
• Java Pool: 152 MB
• SGA Max Size: 1000 MB
  Note: SGA Max Size is automatically set based on the other memory settings.
• Aggregate PGA Target: 64 MB

Security

Note the following security considerations:

• Enabling WebSphere Global Security will not conflict with Expere. Currently, Expere does not support Java 2 security. Do not enable that feature within WebSphere to enable WebSphere Global Security.
• The Oracle database engine is installed with the following patch(s) applied:
  • Oracle 10g Enterprise or Standard
  • Version 10.2.0.1.0

Database Configuration and Settings

• No limits exist on the length of the database name Installing an Expere Data Model: Prerequisites 8 Implementation Guide 8
• ORACLE users: In addition to the previous prerequisites, the following apply to Oracle users:
  • NLS_CHARACTERSET=AL32UTF8
  • For a 64 bit OS, you must use a 64 bit ODAC. Search the Internet for “ODAC x64” to find the 64 bit ODAC.
  • When updating to Oracle 12c, the following SQLPlus command s/b executed before creating the first new Oracle schemas: alter session set "_ORACLE_SCRIPT"=true;
    Note: If this step is not completed, the following error may occur : “invalid common user or role name.”
• The person performing the installation or update must be able to access the database via SQL Plus from the installation/upgrade machine.
